Hima Das on last Thursday scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a gold at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships as she clinched to top spot in the women's 400m final race on the third day of competitions in Tampere.
The 18-year-old athlete from Nagaon district in Assam, known as 'Dhing Express' after the name of her village, has also in the past shown virtues of being conscious of her social duties and responsibilities. This was exemplified by her leading the protests for the ouster of country liquor shops in and around her village.
Feeling proud of her!!
